Principal Writer and Thought Leadership (FinTech)

Our solution enables wealth advisors—Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), bank trusts, and platforms serving them—to provide every client of every size sophisticated personalized, tax-optimized portfolio management that was previously the exclusive preserve of ultra wealthy investors.
Smartleaf automated portfolio rebalancing software is currently used to generate customized, personalized, tax-optimized trades for roughly $75B in assets. SAM, a largely automated subadvisory RIA launched in 2020 that leverages Smartleaf’s software, has $4.6B in AUM.
Position Overview:
We sell a complex system. We want to make what we do as easy to understand as possible. We’re looking for a talented writer to craft compelling, user-friendly content that is simple, accurate and engaging. In this role, you’ll create and maintain a variety of content, including marketing materials, website copy, sales outreach communications, and customer-facing resources like our help wiki.
We’re seeking a quick learner with exceptional writing skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment. While a background in finance is helpful, it’s not required—what matters most is your ability to explain intricate ideas in a clear and engaging way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write clear, concise, accurate and engaging content as needed, including marketing campaigns, website copy, email outreach, and knowledge-base articles.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with industry standards.
- Maintain and uphold the company’s brand voice, tone, and style guidelines across all written materials.
Qualifications:
Experience
- A record of writing about complex topics (not necessarily in finance) in a simple, accurate and engaging way
Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences.
- Technical Writing - Proven ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and translate them into simple, user-friendly language.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to factual accuracy and quality.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with financial concepts or fintech is a plus but not required—curiosity and a willingness to learn are essential!
- Strong storytelling and research skills
